Description and Deliverables

The Ministry of Education (MINED) has various strategies to implement the present five-year work plan oriented toward the improvement of the coverage and quality of the educational services that are offered to the population in the different educational levels.
In this context, the creation, organization and administration of a Center of Technical studies is foreseen, that will be part of the institutional network that will be responsible to develop education in the technical area, in Basic Education, Secondary Education and Technical Education of Upper and University level. In the process of management and implementation of the Center of Technical Studies, it is foreseen that the teaching staff develops a new vision and focus of Technical Education, the methodological, didactic and academic competences required for excellent performance. 
The general objective of the project is to design study plans of and to devise modules of competence based learning for occupations of Hotel and Tourism; Logistic and Customs and Port Operation, as well as to revise and update the relevant secondary technical education study plans and to integrate them in the curricula of the new technical careers.
The specific objectives are:

  • to propose a competence based curriculum for technical education that takes into account the existing progress in the country
  • to develop educational support materials that facilitate the curriculum implementation of the technical careers
  • to propose a selection and training system for teachers in the technical areas that are required
  • to revise the existing efforts in the area of hotel business and tourism of the secondary level and to develop or to strengthen alternative general school degrees.

Services

  • Devise a work plan to be approved by the MINED, covering suitable institutions for abroad training of the Salvadorian teachers
  • Design of educational profiles for areas of Hotel and Tourism; Logistic and Customs and Port Operation
  • Design and devise a minimum of four competence based learning modules in each area
  • Design selection and training system for teachers
  • Monitoring of the abroad training of the Salvadorian teachers and reporting of performance
  • Technical specification of the curricula, resources and materials for the implementation of each module
