Description and Deliverables
The establishment of Open and Distance Learning Centres and development of ODL human resources in Bosnia and Herzegovina Project is part of the Phare Multi-Country Programme for Distance Education. The objective of the project was to support the building-up of ODL expertise and facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to support co-operation in the area of ODL with other countries in the European Union and the Phare region.
Specifically, the project resulted in:
- The establishment of 3 operational Open and Distance Learning Study Centres (ODL Study Centres)
- The implementation of ODL awareness raising and training programmes, including 2 study trips for up to 5 people each to centres of expertise in the EU and the Phare countries
- A pilot delivery of one or more short ODL courses, using the facilities and staff of the ODL Study Centres established
The implementation of ODL training programmes and awareness raising meetings
- Developed staff training programme/workshop design based on TNA
- Developed awareness raising meeting concept
- Invited and selected participants/stakeholders
- Conducted 2 one-week ODL training programmes events for 40 people
- Conducted 1 one-day awareness raising meeting at each of the three institutions for executive staff and relevant stakeholders
Pilot delivery of short ODL courses
- Conducted needs analysis in order to identify ODL needs relevant to the socio-economic development in Bosnia
- Identified appropriate and relevant course material in co-operating with the ETF
- Prepared two pilot course deliveries in co-operating with the host institutions
- Supported the development and adaptation of teaching materials
- Supervised execution of pilot course
- Evaluated course delivery
Strategic and operational plans for further development of ODL activities at each of the three ODL Study Centres
- Developed institutional policies on ODL
- Contacted national educational authorities
- Contacted stakeholders and assess training needs
- Reviewed technical and financial future aspects of the beneficiary institutions
- Facilitated the development of a 2-year strategic and operational plan at each of the 3 institutions
