Description and Deliverables

The overall objective of the project was to support the Government's initiative to reform the education sector to be responsive to changing democratic, social, and economic conditions by improving its efficiency and effectiveness. A complex technical assistance project was delivered to the Ministry of Education and related counterparts focused on improvement of the Education System under transition conditions. Policy advice was provided to local key players in set up of a practicable medium and long term strategy to adapt education to the economic changes. That included the design of a detailed financing strategy and budget scheme. Further, policy advice was related to legislative issues in the field of education, in order to involve international standards and bring the national regulation closer to the legislation used in western countries.
Within the project, a set of training events took place for various target groups, e.g. ministry representatives, administrative staff and civil servants from regions to be used as trainers.
